La Gomera

La Gomera is one of the lovely islands of the Canarian archipelago. The island is small and beautiful and is located just west of Tenerife. There is peace and harmony, and you go here mainly for relaxation and for the beautiful nature's sake.
The island is also called the "Green Island" because much of the island is forested. The national park around the top of the island you will find vast pine forests and the laurisiva trees which are a type of laurel shrubs. Otherwise, you will find many valleys of lush farmland and  lowlands with desert similar traits.

San Sebastian is the "capital" of the island. It's a sleepy little town but is well worth a day visit or two. The port has ferry connections to both El Hierro and La Palma. Also you will find at least three  attractions you should not miss. One is the Torre del Condo which is an historic tower and the other is a military building that dates back to 1447 and is very well restored. At last but not least you can make a visit to Columbus home, which is now a museeum. It is recommended to rent a car and travel around the island.
Torre del Condo
Playa de Santiago is located in the south of La Gomera and is actually the name of the great stone beach which covers the south coast. There was / is also a small fishing village. In the harbor area are Plaza del Carmen. It is a square in typical Canarian / Spanish style. From here you can select multiple paths along the sea.
In the area there is a newly opened 18-hole golf course. Between Playa de Santiago and Valle del Rey, one can take a boat or bus.

Valle Gran rey
The valley here is really impressive. Through the valley sides can see the typical Canarian pieces of land that lies like terraces. Clusters of small white houses with red roofs along with the color spectrum from trees and flowers make the trip down to the beach area unique. You will find great lava beaches with cozy promenades. Here you can choose whether you want an active holiday with cycling or hiking in personalized walks in the park, or to spend lazy days on the beach.

There is a nice selection of local restaurants in Valle Gran Rey, and a few bars and cafés.
